BC BEATZ,
Geelong Hip Hop Dance
BC Beatz was founded in 2013 by local Geelong dancers and friends Megan Blyszak and Cat Yee.
Blysz and Cat have been dancing together since 2002 and have competed in State and National Hip Hop Competitions together. BC Beatz was founded to provide the Geelong and surrounding region with a fun and friendly dance school dedicated to Hip Hop.
BC Beatz offers both recreational and competitive Hip Hop Classes and welcomes all students to come and try. Cat has recently decided to hang up her dancing shoes and leave the school in Blysz’s hands alongside fellow instructors Cass, Phoenix and Shay. The team are looking forward to a fun, exciting and successful 2025.
Blysz
Blysz began gymnastics at the ripe old age of 4yrs where she flipped her way to level 8, before moving onto hip hop, soccer and pole dancing. Blysz made it to the top 60 dancers in So You Think You Can Dance season 1 and made the semifinals on Australia’s Got Talent. In 2013, Blysz lead BC Beatz senior hip hop crew to an impressive two National titles, including FISAF Unite Hip Hop Nationals and Schoolaerobics National Championships! When she’s not teaching or hanging upside down on a pole at Kylie J Pole studio, you’ll find her dancing in the hallways at The Geelong Hospital, where she nurses! Blyszak is a proud new momma to her beautiful daughter Sasha who she can't wait to share her love of dance with.
Cass + Phoenix
Cass has been dancing since she was 4 years old and has been with BC Beatz for 11 years. Cass absolutely loves teaching and supporting all dancers to do their best! She loves watching them grow, gain confidence and express themselves during class. Outside of dance, Cass is in her fourth year studying Occupational Therapy. Here’s a fun fact, Cass enjoys building IKEA flat packs.
Phoenix started dancing when she was only 2 years old and has been with Beatz for 8 years. Phoenix loves cheering on all the incredible Beatz dancers when they’re on stage and is often the first to lose her voice from cheering at competitions! Watching the dancers grow and thrive on stage is her absolute favourite. When not in the studio she works full time at Ripcurl in their head office. A little fun fact about Phoenix is that her favourite foods are cheese and pickles.

Shayla
Shaylah has been dancing at BC Beatz for 7 years, starting as a student and now the coach of our mega crew BC Bloc. She fell in love with dance when she was younger and found her place here at Beatz where she was, and still is, encouraged and inspired to keep on growing as a dancer. Fun little fact, she has been competing in Drill Dance for 10 years!
